What to look for on the drive up to Piney River Stables

When you drive onto the dirt road reset your odometer to Zero. All of the landmarks are measured from this point.

Mile 3.5 - Look off to your left & back to see the "S" in the road.

Mile 3.65 - Look off to your right for a running stream & rocks.

Mile 4.6 - Look off to your right to see a Marmot. Marmots like to sun themselves and if overcast they normally will not be out.

Mile 5.0 - Look off to your left to see a red sandstone rock formation that look like 2 dancers. Best viewed a little up the road.

Mile 5.1 - Look to your left to see a Marmot on top of a red sandstone rock.

Mile 5.25 - Look off to your right to see a Marmot. Look on top of the rock.

Mile 5.4 -  Look off to your right to look at a large mountain meadow.

Mile 6.2 - Look off to your left to look for seasonal wildflowers.

Mile 7.9 - Look off to your left for a large opening with beaver ponds & maybe a moose.

Mile 8.3 - Look off to your left for a beaver pond.

Mile 9.0 - Look off to your right for moose. The bridge is where the moose crossing the river was taken.

Mile 9.1 - Look off to your right for moose.

Keep in mind that wildlife is just that and most of the wildlife sightings tend to be towards the end of the day.
